Cure Menopause Symptoms

The symptoms of menopause can be overwhelming for some women and their families. Between hot flashes, irritability, sleeplessness and decreased sexual desire, some women find that 'the change' is affecting their lives in an extremely negative way. While menopause is a natural process, there are some things you can do to, if not cure, at least keep the symptoms to a minimum.

One

Talk to your doctor about the symptoms and how they are affecting your life. You doctor may discuss Hormone Replacement Therapy or other options to relieve your symptoms. If your doctor is unsympathetic to your plight, find another doctor.

Two

Research various herbal treatments. There are many products on the market today for treating menopausal symptoms. Some are singular herbs while others combine several different herbs to relieve more than one problem.

Three

Visit your local health food store. Many dried herbs and herbal products are available that cannot be found in a regular pharmacy. Talk to the staff and see what they recommend.

Four

Talk to family and friends about your problem. Menopause is no longer a taboo subject and those that have already gone through it may have suggestions that will help. Although every woman is different, most of the symptoms of menopause are common enough that someone has already experienced them and may know how to relieve your problem areas also.

Five

Look into alternative medicine. If what your doctor proscribes and herbs aren't working, locate a naturopath or homeopath to see if they can help you find a solution.

Menopause is natural and is nothing to be frightened of. Although the symptoms can range from mild to severe, most will pass given time.

Black Cohosh and Wild Yam Root are the two most commonly used herbs for menopausal symptoms. Other herbs to consider are valerian, motherwort and chaste berry are other herbs to consider.

For estrogen balance, many herbalists recommend taking soy isoflavones along with herbal therapies. Other options for soy include soymilk and tofu. The soybean is a terrific source for natural phytoestrogen. During and after menopause, the body produces lower levels of natural estrogen, which may lead to other health problems.

Always discuss any herbal or alternative medicine therapies with your primary doctor. Many herbs or other treatments many interfere with medicines you may be taking for other conditions.
