Lo Gap Woodworks

Press Release for the Opening of
Lo Gap Woodworks, Inc.

It's Official!
Lo Gap Woodworks, Inc. Opens for Business in Clinton, Arkansas and, via the Internet, the World.

From the log to the finished product, Lo Gap Woodworks specializes in utilizing the whole tree.  Believing that each tree has a special character, the owners of Lo Gap Woodworks are combining new technology with tried and true methods to assure that no part of a felled tree goes unused.

Clinton, Arkansas, USA, April 11, 2006 - Lo Gap Woodworks, Inc. has a philosophy that every part of an individual tree is special.  From the lumber they cut on their precision bandmill to the wood used in their handcrafted products, every board is chosen for its uniqueness and beauty.

Kevin and Kat Yares, the husband and wife owners of Lo Gap Woodworks implement each part of every tree they fell.  Bark and shavings from the logs are used as mulch in their many gardens; both vegetable and herbal.  Branches are turned into walking sticks or table legs, while leaves and sawdust are primary ingredients in their compost bins.

The sawmill is open for public sawing, with the mill being only one of a few bandmills available in the North Central Region of Arkansas.  They have developed a system for cutting small diameter trees that other millers refuse to touch.

Lo Gap Woodworks, Inc. is offering a one of a kind service to its customers.  No other small sawmill in the area provides CAD assisted optimization of the log to help fulfill lumber needs.  This allows their clients to choose exactly what they want from their timber.  Lo Gap Woodworks takes the guessing game out of saw milling.

A solar kiln capable of drying 1,000 board feet or more will be in place by the Fall of 2008, making it the only public kiln in the Van Buren county region.

Operating from their property, visitors to Lo Gap Woodworks get a first hand look at the low impact the Yares' are making on the surrounding environment.  Visitors can also see that the Yares' are working toward forest sustainability and managing the land that has been entrusted to their care.

In the future, Lo Gap Woodworks, Inc. plans to carry a distinctive line of Oak and Pine Furniture and a variety of non-timber forest products for their customers.  Also in their offerings will be a variety of eclectic items such as natural birdhouses, unusual woodcarvings and custom wood products.
